[Insert Sarcasm Here]

Honestly, this is one of my favorite episodes in the season.  Its perhaps the best of the filler episodes of the third season(IMO the filler episodes are The Headband, The Painted Lady, and The Beach, and Nightmares and Dreams).  It finally gives us insight on the Fire Nation's point of view on the war and Fire Nation society in general.

Some favorite scenes are the "meat" part, the Aang's schoolyard fight, and the Kataang dance.

What a straight snoozer and footloose rip off. With soldiers dying they decide to have a dance party.

I agree with Mao.  "This is
Even though I saw this on TurboNick on Wednsday, seeing the full quality was amazing. It really makes you appreciate just how fluent and detailed the animation is in this series.

Highlights and such

-Happy!Aang sure did return quick...

-Fire Nation kids = hilarious. That Foamy look alike was made of win <3

-Wang and Sapphire Fire. 'Nuff said XD

-I really did wish Toph got more screen time for this episode. Ah well

-THE KATAANG. The whole Kataang interaction in the episode had me squealing. Especially the dance. God I though they were gonna kiss in that scene. So... close >.<

-The Maiko was very sweet, in my opinion. Zuko says the corniest things Cheesy

-IROH. Oh my gosh I thought I was going to cry. How could Zuko do that to him. How much lower can he possibly sink? Making Iroh cry... ;~;

-Combustion Man. I was really looking forward to know more about him, but lo and behold, he comes in at the end. Drat

-NEW SHIP! Onji/Aang FTW XD

-Sokka was absolutely perfect in this episode. Enemy birds? Go to your room? WIN.

All in all, I like this episode a lot more than the Awakening, and it's definately up there in my Favourite episodes list. -snickers- Hotman XD

Also, did anyone else pay attention to that shot that included a close up of CM's hand in the end? It looked like it was a claw made out of metal... at least to me.
I totally agree!  "This is ENEMY land!  These are ENEMY birds!"

What I liked the best is that the episode showed that what the Avatar Team would look like if they were wearing Fire Bending clothes. Grin

I thought this was a good episode. I thought the dance Aang and Katara did was awesome. I enjoy watching it. And watching Aang in this episode seems enjoyable to me.

Makes me laugh that people say this was a filler episode. 2nd episodes of new seasons are NEVER filler. Unless the show is an anime based off a shonen manga, then the entire season is filler.

Its not all that important to the plot I admit, but its definitely one of my favourites - Sokka's in top form here especially.

What makes you say that? The Headband was about as fillerish as they get. It was fun, though.

I loved this episode. We get to see the Gaang in their Fire Nation garb, an awesome Kataang dance, Aang in school, and a secret dance party. Definitely one of my faves.

And of course, Sokka is full of good lines...

"We're in enemy territory! Those are enemy birds!"

"I am a fan of secret rivers..."

*Aang shows Sokka his Ozai noodle picture* "Impressive, I admit..."

"Fire! Wang Fire! And this is my wife, Sapphire." "Sapphire Fire, nice to meet you!"

"GO TO YOUR ROOM!"

"Sokka you can take off the beard now.." "Oh no I can't. It's permanently glued to my skin." *strokes beard*

Cheesy

While I agree that in some ways it was a filler episode in terms of the Gaang's story in the Fire Nation with the undertones of Footloose...Tongue I still can't believe I said that. *ahem* I don't at ALL agree that it was filler in the Zuko and Iroh storyline. After all, it was the first time you get to see Iroh since the climax of Season Two, and this episode helps show the rift between them both and show the complicated emotions brought forth due to Zuko's choice by siding with Azula. And how Zuko is having trouble figuring out if being home, with his "father" in jail was really what he desired from all of it, and if he is able to handle such a thing (Going by his "Trouble sleeping" in the episode's opening.) And it also shows us just how awkward and difficult Zuko finds speaking to Iroh is now that he seems "Disappointed" in him.

Aang = Filler in some ways. Zuko = Has a point to the overall plot.

Of course, that's just my opinions. Hm. I should really be in bed now. >___>;

What makes you say that? The Headband was about as fillerish as they get. It was fun, though.

For me, filler means you cut it out and nothing is lost story or pacing wise. Like the non-Zuko portion of Avatar Day or the obvious season one example that doesn't even need to be said. Obviously they're not inherently bad, but not crucial to the story all the same. I don't like that term thrown around all over the place where I don't think it belongs. A breather episode is more like it, or rather a scene setting type episode. It lets you get used to the pacing and feel of the world. Nothing major happens, but you can't do without it. Stuff is still getting established. Like the 2nd chapter in an actual book. You can't skip it, no matter how slow things are going to start out.

Saying something is fillerish makes it seem like it doesn't really need to be there, when it very much so does.

But then, this is just the storyteller in me coming to the forefront.

Congrats, you are a true Avatard!! Grin

And yeah, the only thing I'd like just as much as a Freedom Fighter spin-off would be The Adventures of Aang, Bumi, and Kuzon.  THAT OR THE ADVENTURES OF THE SEXYFINE HARU.

When Aang first mentioned him in 'the blue spirit' i thought that it'd be funny if Zuko was related to Kuzon somehow xD

Also, Shoji was adorable and he looked like he belonged in the Earth Kingdom. ...Maybe that's why I like him so much?

Maybe he was, until Aang came to the Fire Nation.
Then Aang was the Fire Nation's Aang.

Teo is the Earth Kingdom's Aang.
