The best part was the first cameo of Foamy Mouth Guy! THAT was hilarious!
that was great, think we'll see him again?

May be it was just my perception but it seemed to me that the animation in this episode was different... and ugly at some point. But still I liked it. I admired Suki - the fact that she has no problem seeing herself both as a warrior and a girl (not just showing off and telling everyone she's so tough and invincible) proves that she's a very strong and confident person. But I like her better without make-up.

Peace on Avatar, before peace in real life

This is one of those rare times Katara showed some jealous or feelings for Aang. When Aang first waved out the windows to those girls, she spat out her tounge in a childless way.

In certain episodes Katara acts like she doesn't even know Aang's alive, and in other episodes like one and Cave Of Two Lovers, she gives hints that maybe her feelings for Aang is muteral. Why would she care if Aang said he wouldn't want to kiss her?

She has given mixed signals though out the series, which lots of girls do. There is nothing more frustrating than that. Worst than rejection, at least than you have closer and you can move on. Make up you mind. LOL

sukki appears!! yay! how cool! lol i loved seeing aang getting chased by girls and katara getting mad about it, a little jealous maybe??
and then sokka was in a skirt Smiley loved seeing that!
what i like most was that we finally learn about an avatar, avatar kyoshi, man she was cool and then at the end everything was alright cuz even though they all fought, they all came together at the end and were able to solve it out

MaikoRULES, much as I love Suki, I must say that your "Long Live Suki!" display is rather unnecessary. You've been warned numerous times to post something substantial and worthy of discussion, not just for the sake of posting. Please stop doing that.

Fun episode ^^

Some great Kataang moments.

And Sokka's development was great

Aang: What's wrong with him?
Katara: Oh he's just mad a bunch of girls kicked his butt.
Sokka: They snuck up on me!
Katara: Yeah... and then they kicked your butt.

When I first saw this episode, I thought that Kyoshi was part of the Water Tribe, not the Earth Kingdom'I mean they wore blue and had blue eyes, which I thought was a WT thing, maybe it's because of their location.

I think so too, Aang's head was too big for his body and their noses ... weren't like in the other chapters

This was the first episode that really got me into being an avatard, when it was broadcast in australia (In november 2006 no less!)
Sure, I liked the first three episodes, but this one was absolutley awesome!
I loved Sokka getting his butt kicked by the Kyoshi warriors, and subsequently learning that girls can be just as good warriors as guys(If not better ones).
Also, he and Suki were so cute together in this episode Cheesy
I also love the character of Suki herself, and how she was a warrior but a girl, too. There was also a lot of good kataang moments, (Her being jealous of Aangs screaming fangirls.) and I love Aangs desire to ride on the elephant koi and later the unagi.
All in all, a 10/10!

^ That is probably still my favorite character exchange in all of Avatar to this day.  It was probably the first thing in a cartoon that ever made me literally fall over laughing. I personally love this episode, mostly becuase of Suki!  (She'd better be alive! Sukka FTW!)  I love the girl power message, delivered subtly enough not to bore younger kids or be really in your face, but still awesome.  I love Sokka's growth throughout this episode, the way he starts off as the bragging male flexing his muscles, but in the end humbles himself enough to learn an important lesson and become a better warrior and person (and earn himself a kiss! Cheesy) I like Sokka and Suki's training session (I'm keeper of it), I still think you can feel definite chemistry between them when you watch those scenes.  Plus, this is one of my most quotable eppies from Season 1; besides the golden quote mentioned above, there's "Where we're going, you won't need pants!" "Nice dress Sokka!" "I only fell down to make you feel better!" and Sokka's muttering rant that ends with him taking some food and going, "Mmm, this is tasty." Cheesy  And, there's that hilarious screenshot of wet!Zuko after the Unagi drenching!

This might be one of the first times that we actually see Katara and Aang acting as though there relationship was more than friendship. The fight: "I'm glad." "I'm glad your glad." "Fine." "FINE." is really hilarious. A little bit of foreshadowing enver hurt anyone. By the way I noticed that the villagers of Kyoshi dress in blue while most of the Earth Kingdom dress in green. They seem to be closer to being from the Water Tribe than the Earth Kingdom....hmm...

This was a great episode I gave it a 9, but I watched it again (for like the tenth time) today and I noticed the funniest thing ever so now its a 10 for me. When Katara is getting some food supplies for the Gang and Aang comes to talk to her about her being jealous there is a guy in the background that is talking to a pole, then fighting the pole, and eventually losing in bitter defeat. I was on the floor laughing so hard that my guts were hurting...

Haha! I've not noticied that before, though it sounds funny. Tongue

I'll watch that episode tonight and post back my opinion tomorow. XD

I gave this episode a 9 aswell. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't quite enough to get to 10.

I really liked the Sokka character development we saw and Aang's quote: 'But your always hungry!'

I just watched this episode again today and was struck by the (I suspect unintentional) irony of having Sokka be taught that being sexist towards women is wrong, by a group of female warriors who don't train or accept men as members. Maybe Sokka wasn't the only character whose name starts with an 'S' who learned a little lesson about sexism?

Thats a good find!

Although maybe it was a tradition of the Kyoshi Warriors to follow Avatar Kyoshi? From what I could see in the timeline, Avatar Kyoshi was the only female avatar as far back as the line went.

Yeah, obviously the Kyoshi warriors' traditions are inspired by Kyoshi herself, however 'tradition' does not excuse sexism. After all, Master Pakku's sexism was based in the traditions of his culture, but it was explicity pointed out that it was still wrong.
