Has anyone bought any of the DVDs released? I'd like to know how many episodes are in each volume and if there are any extra stuff on them.  The covers look really nice, but I do wish they were released all togther in an entire set  Undecided.

Well, I've rented the first two disks that were released. They seem to have about four episodes each. As for bonus material, I wasn't looking for that material and didn't notice if there was any.

I wish they were together too, but *sigh* we're not that lucky. I've bought the first volume--there's four episodes on each DVD. There are special features, but they're not that exciting. There's a featurette about kung fu, I believe. That's really all I remember; it's just a bunch of people talking.

I have yet to buy the second DVD, though; can anyone tell me where they got it?

If your looking for sites where you can purchase the Avatar DVDs, I have seen them at Circuitcity.com and Amazon.com

Hope that helps.

If you click our nifty Amazon.com link up at the top of the forum, you can purchase them from Amazon and help support this fansite at the same time. Win-win situation for all. Smiley

I found this link over on the Toonzone forums. It goes to Best Buy's webpage, where they are taking preorders for an Avatar Book 1 box set. Release date Sept. 19. I didn't see a similar listing on Amazon.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=15092285&type=product&id=1549245
Their price? $89.99, so it doesn't look like the box set will be cheaper than the individual discs.

yeh the boxed set idea looks crappy, there would not be too much a price difference between getting the DVD's individually and the boxed set...
personally I might as well finish my individual DVD collection and perhaps at one point buy the boxed set as a backup.

The price for the box set is more than a little steep.  What kind of special features do the DVD's have?  If they're good enough I may consider possibly having a chance at maybe going out to buy it eventually. (note all the conditional terms.)

Nice artwork on both of those.  It's pretty neat looking.  But I think I'll wait for a price drop on the box set if I get it. (I'm assuming they'll have one; they can't keep it that expensive forever!).

What a birthday surprise.  "Avatar" and the second Teen Titans DVD released on the same day.

I can hardly wait.

The price of $89.99 for the complete Book 1 set isn't as steep as it might look. The set spans six disks, not five. From what I have read, it includes Volumes 1-5 and a disk containing special features. Now, I am not going to speculate what these special features are exactly. However I did run a little test calculation on how much the disks may cost if all six could be purchased seperatly.

I looked up the disks at Amazon.com and using the in-store pick-up price which averaged at $16.99, I calculated that buying all six disks individually would cost just over $100.00. Looking at it this way, the $89.99 for the complete set feels more afordable.

yes, but really the specials on the DVD's are lackluster... how can we know that the so called "special" disk wont just be all the specials that are currently on the DVD's now just merged on one disk?

Nah, I'm getting the box set. It may be kinda steep, but I think it'll be worth it especially if one DVD is completely dedicated to special features. I've got a feeling the volumes 1-5 DVDs are ment for the kids while this box set is for the more grown up audience. It's nice to watch a show on a station that's DVD releases are reasonably timed. With Teen Titans, we had to wait like 6 months between the 6 episode DVDs.

The Box set art is amazing. I simply can't wait to get it. But $89.99? Seriously way to much for me. Maybe that is just a price for now, hopefully it will go down before it comes out.

And I totally forgot about the Teen Titans one coming out too. *Does happy dance*

I will be getting the season one boxset when it is released.  The price of the thing doesn't scare me off.  I have spent quite a bit more getting the Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine boxsets.  I am still missing three Deep Space Nine sets, though.

I actually think Avatar Book 1 and Teen Titans season 2 are coming out a week apart.

I'm waiting for Amazon to post their prices before buying into the $90 box set theory. Something just tells me it'll be closer to $45.

Amazon's price for the Book 1 set is up. They list it at $45.99. Far more reasonable.

Yaaay!  Half the price!  Wooo!  <happy dance>  Awrite... Yesss! <runs around in circles in joy and excitement until he collapses in a heap>

I'm buying this thing now.  It's within my reasonable price range for a DVD box set.

the original set price is $64.99, but as long as it stays in the $45.99 to $64.99 range I am a happy camper.
If higher I will stick to the individual DVD's
