The Avatar State gives the Avatar superhuman strength.

Does it?

I'm not ruling it out, since "Chi" is enough of a A Wizard Did It explanation that it could easily be used to explain uncanny feats of strength and endurance, but had that been established before this episode?

I think that they hadn't established that before, now they have: Zaheer has stated that Korra's power is limitless. If we take this statement to "the limit", it practically means the concept of God, of Infinite - definitely superhuman.

You sure?  Avatars do have the power to trigger geological events like volcanoes and tsunamis, and Avatar Kyoshi has shown that Avatars even have some abilities to manipulate segments of entire tectonic plates. I'd say that's pretty close to god-tier powerful...

Zaheer was using pretty wording. I think there are definitely some, rational limits to an Avatar.

Yes.

Wrenching platinum chains from walls and using them to swing boulders is the definition of superhuman strength.

Aang also displayed feats of super strength in the Book 3 finale.

Admittedly that boulder she pulled from the wall might be part earthbending.

Wasn't there some airbending factoring into that, too?

He was been somewhar hyperbolic to my understanding. But I certainly believe Korra has yet to untapmher full potential spiritually. That block has been her greatest hindrance so far.

That was my impression as well, but snapping 1/2" chains, which in the real world can have thousands of pounds of break strength, is definitely super human.

I still stand with the idea that she bent the chains. Aang compressed thousands of gallons of water in a small sphere. That's physically impossible. If the AS can break the laws of physics, surely it can bend some platinum.
