I loved the Earth King! Let me break this down piece by piece:
What I hated:
The ending, which was really so negative. Azula's in Ba Sing Se as a Kyoshi Warrior, Toph has been captured, and the Dai Li still support Long Feng.
Sokka's boring little talk to the Earth King about how he can help.

What I liked
That Appa was finally back
That Long Feng was finally arrested
Zuko fainting (he looked hot when he fainted)

What I loved
The fight! Who didn't love that fight. It was kick @$$!
Katara with the fancy aeriel water whip kick.
Toph making the staircase into a slide.
Aang improved with his earthbending.

Here I disagree just a little bit. Even though it was excruciatingly nerve-wrecking, it was a very good setup for the season finale. Everything bad fell into place, anticipating a tragic end to the season. I gasped like there was no tomorrow when Azula said "We are the Earth King's humble servants", because that was just plain ingenious on their part, dressing as the Kyoshi Warriors (I still wanna know what happened to Suki, Koh-damn it!).

I did get very sad when Toph was in the cage. She looked so distressed and helpless :'(

Typo. Edited.

Oh, I know it forms the whole setup for the season finale. The season finale would be nothing without that negative ending. It just was as you put it "nerve wracking." After a generally happy episode, (disregarding Zuko's character change) it just ends with all this unhappiness. Sad

I also forgot to say that I did not like Zuko as an older Aang. Smiley

That intro was incredible. It really shows Aang and Toph working together, to completely own. I also really liked Katara's waterbending. Sokka? What did he do...

Ok, so Sokka didn't help much in the storming of the castle, but only because it was intrinsically a bending fight. There was no way to get in to the Earth King without a either a huge army or a massive display of bending. In a "regular" battle situation, I think Sokka would have aquitted himself well Smiley

It kind of sadden me that there was less Sokka in that awesome battle. You saw Katara with her graceful aerial water whip kick of awesomeness. You saw Toph turn the stairs into a slide. You saw Aang do some awesome earthbending. And we saw Sokka running. Sokka gets overshadowed by all of his awesome bending friends. :'(

I'm a bit late to comment on this episode, but it was very cool.
The gAang battling their way into the palace... awesomeness.

But. It's even better. This episode has one of the best lines in Avatar history ever, IMHO.

We are the Earth King's humble servants...

Hey...

Since Azula, Zuko, Iroh, & Ozai are related to Avatar Ruko is that why they can create/bend electricity?

As far we know I believe they are the only people whom can accomplish that feat of the firenation.

Ozai & Iroh aren't related to Roku, so that's not the reason.

How can they produce electricity from fire?

I'm also surprised the Earth King did not invade the firnation with Aang during the Black Sun episode. Maybe he is still upset over being knocked out by Sokka.

I didn't really like this episode. I still can't understand why the Dai Li chose Azula over Long Feng...really. She was in their territory so why were they so afraid? and why would they do that to their own people? I don't understand and that was the only problem I've had with this entire series (especially in book 2). The idea just seemed too forced and overcomplicated.

^Mostly to stay in power and to stay alive. But think about it, do people who brainwash their own people love their contry? Even when it's under the guise of "for the good of our contry", they don't really love it. They love power.

Oh, and this episode has the greatest ending. I gave it a ten.

I really liked this episode. It had a great endding as 'Ember Island' says, when Azula, Mai and Ty-lee showed therer faces and it endded, it just had the "I MUST SEE THE NEXT EPISODE" factor. I gave it 10 aswell. I think the last 4 episodes of book 2 were awesome! I'd give them all 10. My favorite one is the Crossroads of Destiny.

A good episode, and I loved the opening battle. The music in the background while they were fightibg was a type of Japanese drums, and it was well done and fit the battle. It also had it's funny parts, especially when Sokka tried to kick down the fancy door. Cheesy

Rated this 7/10.
The opening was great they spend time with Appa and battle the King's guards.
I liked the parts where Sokka offers Kuei to ride on Appa and the last part when Azula arrives at Ba Sing Se.

Definitely agree that the fight was amazing and the line "We are the Earth King's humble servants" was chilling.

But my fave line from the episode:  Aang in a hazy voice "Yeah....girls are waiting for us."
