Another thing I noticed when looking through PBF's screenshots (I also just posted this in another thread):

There are fire hydrants and stop lights.

I'm...I'm not sure how I feel about this. I guess they do have running electricity. Undecided

EDIT: POWER LINES. I SEE POWER LINES. I'm feeling so conflicted. D:

What are the fire hydrants for?

To provide a constant source for the Waterbending firefighters to use, duh!

The animation is goregous.
Look at that detail!
It doesn't look like a Nickelodeon show at all.

Looks more anime-esque to me, and I never thought of Avatar as anime.

I noticed that, but I was more concerned on why she was leaving. Did her parents upset her or did she just decide it's time to go to the big city? I think it's the latter. Tongue

That's true, and she looked really sad when she left.

She left because she was the Avatar. So she had to go learn the elements.

That guy on the right looks like the guy from "The Boiling Rock".

The one who escaped prison with them. Theories are forming in my mind now.

Seems like a combination of Taj Mahal, Tiananmen Square and a bit of The Forbidden City.

Edit:

They have clocks now. Interesting. I hope The Mechanist helped invent this after improving his candle?

The "armor" looks a little bit similar somehow.

@azekeprofit - Chit Sang would be long dead by now. Especially if the Gaang is dead.

Unless, for some reason, a character from a previous installment in the series taking place decades before the modern one were inexplicably brought back as a random character at the exact same age as they were when they first appeared...

I'm sure they just founded a much smaller city in which all nations were welcome.  Then that city grew up.

Avatar + Fire Lord.

All this Korra stuff is cool, but I really want to know what happened after ATLA ended.

Well, they had about 50 years to build up that city.

... that's really not a lot of time to make a city, but if everyone decided to live there, they would just build it themselves.

^ We're gonna have the Dark Horse comics, just wait.

I assume that scene comes before this scene.

She's probably thinking hard, all confused and conflicted before she frowns and makes her decision to leave the tribe.

The animation is goregous.
Look at that detail!
It doesn't look like a Nickelodeon show at all.

Looks more anime-esque to me, and I never thought of Avatar as anime.

The colour palette is definitely more nuanced than in the previous series, although I don't really think of it as being anime-esque. Watching the trailer made me think more of French animation than anything else:

But there's also a definite "Ghibli" feel to the detail in the architecture (although, given that Miyazaki frequently references the influence European animation had on him, I may be repeating myself here):
