Information quoted from the first post of ye olde Korra thread:

KNOWN KORRA FACTS:
  • The title "Avatar: Legend of Korra" was trademarked by Viacom.
  • Job openings were listed months ago for an "Untitled Avatar Project".
  • Mike and Bryan are involved in the project, and said in a book signing in June that an announcement would be made "soon", perhaps before SDCC.
  • It's going to be a new Avatar series, and it will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2011.
  • "The Legend of Korra" takes place 70 years after the events of the original Avatar series.
  • Korra is the waterbending Avatar after Aang, a passionate, rebellious and fearless teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe, who has already learned three elements and needs to master Air.
  • Aang and Katara's son, Tenzin, will be Korra's airbending sifu.
  • The epicenter of the modern Avatar world is Republic City, a metropolis fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive.
  • Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart.
  • Mike and Bryan said there's going to be a "definite link" between ATLA and TLOK.
  • "The Legend of Korra" will be more mature than the original show, but will still have the same sense of fun and adventure.
  • The Track Team, who did the music and sound for the original series, will also be working on the new series.

Preliminary Korra info from SDCC:

So, Im currently using my iPod to type a short message, but I just got out of the avatar signing at the Nick booth. One pretty big piece of info- Korra IS a miniseries, and Bryke is happy because tha means they can really make an impressive 12 episodes instead of hits and misses like they felt they had with original series. Also, expect Korra to air in LATE fall 2011. I'll update this post with pics when I get home Smiley

From someone anonymous on plus4chan's Avatar board (nothing to substantiate it, and the user is anonymous, but I thought I'd spread it anyway):
http://plus4chan.org/boards/a/res/83436.html#83638

Quote
I come bearing gifts of information!

I was lucky enough to meet Mike and Bryan at this year's Comic Con. I had time for 2 questions.

Question 1:
I asked them if there would be guns in Korra, due to the presence of steampunk. They said "No, we want to avoid going down that road as much as possible."
No guns!

Question 2 (non Korra):
I asked them about the possibility of a blu-ray release for ATLA. They said there would be far too much work to pull off a blu-ray release. They said not to wait for it because it probably wont happen.

More from Comic Con:

Then Dee Bradley Baker came and did a whole bunch of animal sounds and talked a bit about Korra. He will be a part of that production (yay!) but, understandably, could offer no other details. Well, actually, he did mention a few things, like that one of the Korra episodes had been recorded already, and that the new voice actor cast is full-stop awesome, but that was it.

From a new UGO article: http://www.ugo.com/tv/comic-con-2010-legend-of-korra-interview

Quote
•As mentioned , the cabbage merchant will not appear, but "his legacy will be present in some form."
•As an evolution of the first series, The Legend of Korra will have more sophistication to it, but still keep the humor, fun hybrid animals, and action.
•It won't cover more mature subject material necessarily, just different mature subjects.  "It won't be another war, but a different sort of conflict."
•On whether or not we'd see a love interest for Korra: "We love that stuff.  We're total cornballs, we love cheesy teen romance.  Rest assured, there's plenty or romance happening in the story, but it's the same balance of ingredients that we like."
•Katara IS in fact the mother of Aang's offspring, who will be central to the show.  "We didn't mean for it to be a big super-secret, that they end up together."
•On the persecution of Airbenders being compared to the X-Men registration act: "We'll see something like that, but in sort of a different structure."
•Will it be a very different world from where we left off?  "Yes and no, the world has definitely changed, and evolved, and advanced, but we're very conscious of keeping the same feeling.  Not totally different, but it's definitely generations later."
•"There will definitely only be one Avatar at a time, and it is Korra."
•So will Aang have any kind of presence?  "Yes...in his way."
•DiMartino and Konietzko will continue to work with Joaquim Dos Santos and Ryuki Hung, working to improve the design and animation.
•The Legend of Korra will in fact be a mini-series, with Michael and Bryan directly writing each episode.
•"As a mini-series, it's going to be really tight.  While we really love the filler episodes, those are some of our favorites, this thing is just lean and mean.  It's a really cool driving story."

Ed Liu over at Toon Zone has inquired about what Korra is to Nick. They replied that its a full series, not a mini-series. But its length is still not definite, so far only 12 episodes have been confirmed.

I expect we already "knew" this, but the post says we only "expected" it, so I'd just like to confirm that Korra will premiere in 2011. A more specific date was NOT mentioned in the article, which made me sad, but I'll just go ahead and post it here anyway, since it narrows down the speculation from "2010-2013" to "2011."

I'm not sure if this counts as official Korra news, but Giancarlo Volpe posted on his deviantart journal that he will NOT be working on the upcoming Korra project. Sad This is slightly disappointing because he was a great director for A:TLA. However, he voiced confidence in the new series, and he also mentioned that Sifu Kisu is involved- something I don't think we had an official word on yet.

Quote
I'm really excited to hear Nickelodeon has green lit "The Legend of Korra"! I will always hold a special place in my heart for the Avatar universe, and I'll be excited to see what new adventures Mike and Bryan will be cooking up.

I've been getting a lot of questions lately about my involvement on the show: but I'm sad to say it will be none.

The truth of the matter is I currently have a job - one that I can't publicly announce just yet. I finished on Clone Wars in March of 2010, and have been spearheading a new project which I will be sure to post on deviantart as soon as I get my company's go ahead to do so.

But have no fear, I am positive that Korra will be better than ever, with Mike and Bryan at the helm, Joaquim, Ryu, Kisu, the Track Team, and JM animation's involvement. I can't wait to see it!

First 3 episodes of Korra have already been recorded:
http://avatarthelastairbenderonline.com/3-recordings-avatar-legend-korra/

From this same source:
Quote
TZN: Will you be working on the new Avatar the Last Airbender series?

ANDREA ROMANO: I already am. I’ve recorded three episodes. It’s seventy five years in the future.

TZN: Will Aang in any way be in the series?

ANDREA ROMANO: I don’t know how much of the series I’m allowed to tell you, but that whole generation has died. It’s the next generation. So it’s really cool. It’s the same producers. It’s the same brilliant attention to detail and I’m very excited. Right now we are just making twelve of them and we’ll see what happens.

So does this count as confirmation that LoK is set 75 years in the future instead of the 70 years that we've heard about?

Interview with Dee Baker:
http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2010/08/voice-of-a-geek-an-interview-with-dee-bradley-baker/

Series used to be called "The Last Airbender: The Journey of Korra". There will be a flashback scene with a 5-year-old Korra, that Dee's daughter (Cora!) voices.

Here's Ian Graham talking about Korra. He doesn't reveal anything new information about the show, but talks about his excitement for the project. (Sorry if this shouldn't be posted here.)

http://ibgraham.deviantart.com/journal/34634280/

"This was my first week on Korra and I can tell you right now that Korra will not disappoint! It is amazing!! Everyone involved is so talented It makes me realize I need to up my game. With so much great work around me it should not be a problem. Now, I can not talk about the story on any level but I can say It is gonna be A GREAT RIDE! Mike and Bryan have a true vision for The Legend of Korra and I am so proud to be a part of it. My first Day was more about setting up my office ,learning the show and Reading the scripts but soon after that I was dropped into a heavy workload. It is nice to work with my old friends and to be back at Nick after 2 years away. "

I considered a while about posting this, but I will do it anyways. Some minor information about the series was released by Korean animators at Korean avatar fan community quite a while ago. They were kind of worried if the information violated their restrictions though.

Dante Basco voices a character in Legend of Korra!

Last Airbender Fans: http://www.lastairbenderfans.com/
Dante's blog: http://dantebasco.wordpress.com/

Quote
For all you Avatar: The Last Airbender Fans… I’m talking about to the ones who love the animated series. I just want to give you a heads up… I just recorded an episode today in which I play a character that is a big surprise… (at least it was to me) & I must say it was so great to be back in that world and seeing a bunch of the old crew, including the Director Andrea Romano, the creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko… I love you guys. Even seeing our sound engineer, Justin and Shannon in casting was great. Its like a family reunion. I did miss Mae Whitman and sent her a text from the sound booth.

But to the die hard fans, I don’t think you will be disappointed with the new series… I think its going to be amazing and I’m just honored to be apart of it again.

Long live the Benders from all Four Elements… but especially the Fire Nation!

Maybe 'ftsl2000' is a storyboard writer of Korra, and the movie is his/her line test movie.

Thank you Takchuipdong, that is gorgeous! I love how she uses one of my favorite Zuko moves towards the end. I am so glad Sifu Kisu is still the martial arts consultant!

looking over the other work on the blog, that seems to be Ki Hyun Ryu! if anyone wants to see more of his work, they can go to his deviantart page http://blacksataguni.deviantart.com/. can anyone translate?
