KNOWN KORRA FACTS:

• The title "Avatar: Legend of Korra" was trademarked by Viacom.
• Job openings were listed months ago for an "Untitled Avatar Project".
• Mike and Bryan are involved in the project, and said in a book signing in June that an announcement would be made "soon", perhaps before SDCC.
• It's going to be a new Avatar series, and it will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2011.
• "The Legend of Korra" takes place 70 years after the events of the original Avatar series.
• Korra is the waterbending Avatar after Aang, a passionate, rebellious and fearless teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe, who has already learned three elements and needs to master Air.
• Aang and Katara's son, Tenzin, will be Korra's airbending sifu.
• The epicenter of the modern Avatar world is Republic City, a metropolis fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive.
• Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart.
• Mike and Bryan said there's going to be a "definite link" between ATLA and TLOK.
• "The Legend of Korra" will be more mature than the original show, but will still have the same sense of fun and adventure.
• The Track Team, who did the music and sound for the original series, will also be working on the new series.

It sounds like a sequel to me, since Korra has the candecy of most Water Tribe names, and this could be the avatar after Aang.

you are correct the cycle is Water,Earth,Fire,Air so it would be a water bender next

Haha! Not the greatest title, reminds me more of England's Avatar name. But I'll take it.

Given that it stars a new character, it must take place in the past or future, which would rule out:

Ursa plotline (at least for the time being)
Aang finding Sky Bison and winged lemurs
Young Iroh

But leaves open:

Pre-Avatar era
Future (more bending-punk technology, please!)
More Spirit World focus
A return of Koh

Or some combination thereof.

Veeeeery interesting...

Korra.... I like the idea of it being the next Avatar after Aang (because we'd get to see Aang as spirit advisor, maybe even aged up a bit!), and I like the idea of it being a girl. And if it's not either of those, well it still sounds interesting and makes me wonder what it's about!

That's what I thought. Is this the European title or is it the same for the States?

My first reaction though was that it reminded me a lot of Ocarina of Time: The Legend of Zelda/Kokiri Forest.

Personally, I'd kind of like a break from the steampunk stuff. All to often, franchises that get too familiar with it mutate into some hideous hybrid world of quasi-Twentieth Century technology and medieval cross. It's a huge turnoff for me to watch a hero using a steel sword to vanquish evil... while riding a motorcycle or steam-powered jet skis.   Bad taste, says I.

I'd be really happy if it turned out it was a one-off animated movie.

After the utter perfection of A:TLA I'd be very cautious about a new multi-season series.

Although whatever they choose to do, I'm all for it. I just knew that Bryan and Michael wouldn't be able to just leave that wonderful world behind that they created.

That would be like George Lucas never making more STAR WARS after the originals.

^Same here. (The only new characters I can handle are of my own creation; no, I don't make them Mary-Sue types). We've already seen what it's like to master the elements with Aang - and from snippets of Roku's life - and the major creativity behind the four nations; but I guess it'd be interesting to see what happens after Aang's time :

1. Do any of Korra's teachers have roots to Aang and his friends?
2. Will Korra be told on her 16th birthday of her identity?
3. How have the G-aang changed the world?

I hope Korra is the next water Avatar, and it does sound female to me [reminds me of Katara]. The title reminds me of the "Legend of Aang". This is so exciting... so it's not like the mini-series but a whole new TV series? There's just so much to look out for now... XD

^No. It's still a miniseries.

I wonder if ATLA and this mini series are just two parts to a huge master-story being told by Bryke. That'd be the only way I could see a mini series actually working out. If you're going to tell a brand new story, you need to have a full-length series to do it. Mini series are designed to fill in gaps and holes, not tell complete stories.
