Simon and Shusters will release at least 5 books based on the live action film at the end of May.
Only two of them (Trial By Fire and the novelization) has a cover for the moment, the other 3 are still blank. They all have some descriptions on their respective pages.

Only one mentions an illustrator (Shane L. Johnson for Battle of the North).  Maybe we can expect movie stills for the others.

They are aimed at a younger readership, the shorter one starting at 4 years old and the novelization for 8 to 12 years old.

Trial By Fire (64 pages)

Other book titles:
Battle of the North (64 pages)
The Avatar's Return (24 pages)
The Last Airbender Movie Novelization (128 pages)
Aang's Destiny (32 pages)

I would still love more books aimed at a wider, older demographic.
At least there's the Art Of book coming out at the beginning of June.

I might buy the novelization for myself, and perhaps one of the younger books for my cousins. I'm not sure if my aunt will approve of the film, though (it does look rather dark), and I might be safer with A:TLA merchandise. Tongue

I agree with me. You don't have to.

This concerned me greatly.
Not because it's a book based on the movie, or even because the character on the cover look like some sort of deranged fusion of the cartoon versions we love, and the actors, not even because Zuko looks remarkably un-scared and seems to be even more anime-esque, particularly in the coif region, than in the cartoon.

What concerns me most is the fact that it says "inspired by the summer blockbuster directed by M. Night Shyamalan." Across the cover.

Last time I checked, it wasn't summer yet. Its hardly spring. Are they so certain that it's going to be a 'blockbuster' that they're even advertising it as such on their merchandise, before the movie airs?!

They all do that. People have been proven to believe hype like that. If you don't put "Blockbuster" on it, audiences see the movie as something the studio is only half-heatedly supporting.

Superlatives are the new common language.

Hmm, more evidence that we should all move to Canada, though I have no evidence that they aren't just as bad.

What really irritates me is the whole 'inspired by the blockbuster' thing. I mean, does anyone really think that this was 'inspired by' anything? It's whole existence is based around the purpose of sucking more money out of the Avatar franchise, it was 'inspired' by good old American greed.
