Okay, so I finally decided to get the book. Grin
I ordered it right now, it should be here in 1-2 weeks. It's quite expensive though. I do hope it's interesting. Smiley

Interesting? It’s fantastic!  The art is wonderful , but even better is that this book will probably be the closest thing to a A:TLA encyclopedia that we'll get. Both Mike&Bryan tell about how Avatar came about and evolved telling stories that I don’t think have been told any were else. Every Avatar fan needs this book and you will not regret it!

Wow, this one is a lot bigger than I expected. It's huge! Shocked

Katara and Sokka looked a lot more Inuit in the early character designs. And early Zuko reminds me of Elfquest, for some reason. Cheesy

Nice pics, but it could do with a little more text in some places. Especially Book 2 has hardly any explanation at all.

And the foreword by M. Night is, er... yeah. Undecided Could've done without that one.

^I remember reading the book for the first time, the foreword made me think the movie might actually be good.

I wonder if M&B consider him as a friend, too.

i cant imagine them playing golf with him from time to time. haha!

anyway, recently at the fan panel at san diego comic con, we gave away a copy of the animated series to our cosplay winner. After I presented the book and other items, i looked at the audience and noticed SO many people holding copies. it was a pretty cool moment Smiley

later, i was discussing all different parts of the book with another couple of fans in the dark horse signing line. the feelings were that we definitely wanted to see more of the art, but when it came to Korra, we hope an "Art of" book comes out faster than the first one Smiley

^ Oh I was just about to say that! I'm still in love with my ATLA Art book but need an Art of LOK book after seeing the art concepts on the panel.

I haven't read the foreword and I don't plan to. Wink

I need to finish mine.  I got it a few weeks ago and I've been on the computer so much lately that I keep forgetting about it.

I just got mine yesterday, and like the above comment, its my first Avatar merchandise. It's absolutely amazing, it's really interesting to see the process, and so many new facts in it I never knew about Avatar! I brought it to school today (I'm a high school Junior), literally half of my 4th period class got up and was leaning over my shoulder to look at the book as well xD Didn't realize how many Avatar fans are in my class!!

Plus, it's great to get reference from to draw Fanart and really study how they animated water/fire (though I do wish they added more of the key animations and maybe some earthbending/lightningbending/airbending as well :/ )

It also doesn't have the Foaming Mouth Guy, though it does have the Cabbage Merchant, haha Tongue

I bought it as a Christmas gift to myself. It came in earlier, and I spent a large part of the beta chi (aka science club) end of term/Christmas party looking at all the art. Two other Avatar fans ended up reading over my shoulder. It was great!

I'm gonna cut out the foreword from mine lol. It'd be cool if they tweaked the early concept of Avatar into another series, a Space Opera/Scifi like anime.

He may have screwed up the movie, but I still like having it there. Shows that everyone can enjoy the show and it's art, no matter what age you are.

I don't have the Mike and the Bryan, but I have Giancarlo Volpe's signature and sketch. I really need to work on getting more.

I wish I could have an autographed copy! I used to live in California, but I moved. And that was before the show was even out. Ugh, another thing I hate about moving, I could have easily gone to SDCC!
