Yes. Toys are meant to be played with--by small children and adults who forgot they ought to grow up.

I'm a mint in package and loose collector and just got into this line actually and they are pretty expensive. Only going to get a few man characters anyway but with the movie these prices have skyrocketed. Worse time to buy them imo.  It does suck there is no Katar/Toph/Azula and countless others. Why they only made guy characters and repaints is beyond me as the women characters would have sold. I don't think I have ever seen a worse lineup for a action figure line refusing to do the women Sad

I bit the bullet and bought an in-box Imperial Fire Soldier for $100. I'm not certain yet if I am an idiot or not for doing so.

^ Everyone would. How can you have a team with half of the members missing?

But they'll have to do Korra. Grin

I saw some of the Fire Series on ebay this week, they went for between $100-200 each moc. I guess they were international releases.

Yup. Never released in the US, but several foreign markets got them. For some reason, there's been a burst of them on ebay lately. It's pushed the average price down, temporarily.

Where are the female action figures?

Aang: "Katara! And Toph for that matter. Where are they?! You know, the characters geared towards the "female demographic"..."

Sokka: "You're being ridiculous... There's no girls in the Avatar universe!"

Aang: "There's not...?"

Sokka: "'Course not! Just ask Mattel!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8urXdyee7g

And yes, the missing of female characters is a crying shame. I mean, common... They even made a Bumi action figure...

the fire series figures are really hard to come by. be prepared to spend quite a bit. cosmic aang came package ONLY with a Wal Mart exclusive Season 2 dvd. Also, the King Bumi and Aang set is pretty rare now. I recently sold one, and had more offers than I could understand. Good luck!

I can't believe that King Bumi got an action figure and the only way that Katara got one was for a fast-food promotion. That is so wrong.

Did any toy company outside of the U.S. ever produce a line of A:TLA toys and figures? Maybe Bandai? Anyone could have done a better job than Mattel.

No, no one ever did. As far as I can tell, Japan couldn't care less about Avatar, so none of their toy-makers ever bothered with it.

That's too bad. Let's hope that Korra fares better and an improved line of A:TLA figures are in the future.

Yeah, it was such a shame the Airbender line never had any of the girls.  We did get a ton of supporting characters though.  I've got every figure made that was released in the US and I love them!I think I'm going to be making my own Korra figures since I don't find it very likely official ones will be produced.

i still feel action figures wont happen for korra, but i will be happy if it does!

but the probending aspect of korra is prime territory for toy development/game development. im keeping my heart there Smiley

Yeah, there has been some discussion of live-action Pro-bending (just as there is Quiddich for muggles). I can definitely see possibilities for Pro-bending on-line and incorporated into LoK video games.

Just to let everyone know, we're having a small discussion about this line over on TheFwoosh.Com, one of the biggest action figure collector discussion forums on the net, and one of the most noticed by the big toy companies.  They do Q&A sessions with Mattel (the makers of the last cartoon toy line) every month.  I just posed the question of whether we should ask Mattel to bring back the line through their collector-oriented online store, MattyCollector.Com, or whether we should flood another company's website (e.g. a Facebook page) with requests to get the license to make an AtLA/TLoK line.  I encourage everyone to join the discussion here:
http://thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=80575

(My username on there, btw, is Sword-of-Grayskull.)
