Hellooooo, Nurse!

« on: Jan 05, 2008 06:43 pm »

MP3: http://www.archive.org/download/AvatarMedleymp3/medley2.mp3

MIDI: http://www.archive.org/download/AvatarMedleymidi/avatarmedleyfinal2.mid

MUSIC SHEETS: http://www.archive.org/details/AvatarMedleyStrict

MUSIC SHEETS W/ TABS: http://www.archive.org/details/AvatarMedleyStrictPlus

Thank you The Music Man(!) for making a beautiful mp3! ;___;

And a million thanks to Megam4n for the musics sheets...I'm going to have so much fun with the tabs!  Man, people here are so nice Smiley

Listing:

1.  Opening theme
2.  Ba Sing Se
3.  Nighttime Sky
4.  Secret Tunnel
5.  Agni Kai
6.  The Headband Dance

Anyways, here's some of my musicbending interpretations of the amazing soundtrack that is Avatar.  For a couple of years now, I've been waiting for a midi...I mean, I'm browsing all these sites that have literally hundreds of anime midi that have been wonderfully transcribed...but no Avatar!  So I, er--took fate into my own hands and made my own, and although I'm no Music Man, I hope that you guys will enjoy it. Cheesy

It's weird how I spend over 6 hours a day for a week and only come up with something less than 3 minutes long D:

But if you like it, please promote it!  Share it!  As for me, I've listened to it so many times it gives me a headache Cheesy  Hehe, and no music sheets, sorry, this thing was made purely for just listening so I simply crammed a bunch of cords in so it's completely impractical to play some parts, but I have included the midi if anyone wants to know the notes.

Stay flaming, hotmen!

I really like it.  I just wish, maybe, it had been more than just piano, because Avatar isn't really piano, if you know what I mean.

Wow! I love it. That was actually pretty good. Excellent job!

But I'm just wondering: How were you able to do this? You know, with the exact notes?
It must have been hard.

It's actually pretty easy.  I've done it a lot of times in Garageband with other movie songs, but never Avatar (I've never attempted it actually.)

Thank you!  Though I know what you mean about Avatar being more than just piano.  I wrote it in piano for two reasons though:

1.  Most anime music transcribed is usually written for piano
2.  I don't have the time or the software to transcribe the music, it's very difficult to identify the different instruments going on and picking out all the played notes when they're being played at the same time

But YES, I definitely understand that Avatar music can't be captured by a single instrument (that's the beauty of it!)

Thank you!  It was difficult and took a lot of time.  I downloaded a transcribing software to help me pick out the notes and chords, though a lot of it is still manual work and the software is only a tool that can help.  A note though, the music is written on a different key than the actual soundtrack Tongue

Incredible work! Definitely gives George Winston a run for his money. You have encouraged me to start working on music again, it has been like two months since I have written anything solid. Check your messages too, sent you a link. Again, amazing work, love it!

Wow, that was so awesome to listen to! That was some pretty amazing transcribing you did there. I particularly enjoyed the Nightime Sky and The Headband dance portions. I'm totally saving this mp3 onto my comp! (Midi doesn't work for me for some reason). Again, great job! Smiley

Wow. This, has made feel more avatardier than ever. I love it! Great job! Tomorrow when I get home from school I am so going to try to teach myself some songs. I can play the piano a little from playing trumpet for the past six years, and keeping the b flat scale in mind. Again, awesome work!

Thank you very much!  I went browsing to look for some other Avatar music as well, and I found yours...I think they are simply amazing!

I'm glad that you liked Secret Tunnel, that one gave me the most trouble, but I'm happy that it turned out well Cheesy

Thanks!  Though I should mention, you can't play the songs along with the music on TV because I transposed the songs on a different key so they could match and didn't sound too high or too low. ^___^;

^ nope, sorry ^__^;

It was made only for listening, but I did provide the midi file if you wanted to know the notes.  You can find a ton of free midi viewing programs online and print them out from there.

Is it possible to obtain more recent music..?

The Song that always plays when Zuko appears (Before Zuko teamed up with Aang)..it sounds amazing

It sounds Sad, but it shows how lost Zuko is.
Anyway, that song is amazing. It was heard in the episode : The Day of the Black Sun part 1 : The Invasion at around 14:21 - 14:35 (When Zuko is preparing to leave, Leaves the note and is all "Sorry Mai.."

Moonstone, do you mean the Tsungi horn theme?

iKeep: Jeong-Jeong's disapeering act. Jeong Jeong's meditation spot. Zuko and Zhao's Agni Kai in 103.

^ No, if you listen to that theme it's different.  It's also the same theme at "The Beach" where Zuko walks out of the party and is reminiscing about his past.

But yeah, I'm working on that Cheesy

I liked the medley so much that I converted it to sheet music to play myself.

Avatar Medley Strict
Size: 207.5 KB (212465 bytes)
Contents: 5 .tif images (1700x2200) and 1 README.txt
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UP3NI24A
This version adheres strictly to the original midi file.

Avatar Medley Strict Plus
Size: 285.0 KB (291789 bytes)
Contents: 6 .tif images (1700x2200) and 1 README.txt
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RAJVEUC0
This version adheres strictly to the original midi file and also includes guitar frets and chords.  Some of it is pretty complex, so it is not for the faint of heart.  Wink

I can build up a simpler version and/or build a guitar fret only version, or whatever.

Enjoy,
Megam4n

Wow, I love the music! Cheesy Even though it sounds a bit different on piano, I love the way you interpreted it. I loved the headband dance/secret tunnel songs, especially! Cheesy

Did you use Garageband for the piano? The only thing that was a bit iffy was the "Nighttime sky" one bc Garageband kind of nabged the notes out instead of it being sort of dreamy/melancholy.

Great stuff! Cheesy

I consider myself a decent Pianist, so I decided to take my sheet music for a test run.  It is a difficult piece (technical counting and fast tempo) so I haven't learned all of it yet, but I do have a piece of it here if you want to listen.

Format: .wav
http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs27/f/2008/148/8/2/Avatar_Medley_incomplete_Piano_by_Megam4n.wav

Sorry for the poor audio quality.  I am using a Coby MP4 player to record it because my recording suite is currently at my studio and not a home.  Oh well...

Tell me what you think.

Er, not sure what Garageband is ^^;  But thanks!
Garageband is a beginner's music development program for the Mac (Apple).  Though pretty powerful for it's price, it is kinda slow, limited and cumbersome to most intermediate to advanced users.
